Welcome to SOS Waypoint Limited
– suppliers of innovative building evacuation systems, designed
to help people, regardless of their visual ability, find their way to
the nearest fire exit in the event of an emergency.
 |
Illuminated wall
wayguidance systems feature innovative tactile
indicators that provide directional information to help visually
impaired and blind people find the location of the nearest fire
exit, allowing them to take more control of their personal safety
in the event of an emergency. |
The wall
system, which complies with the Disability Discrimination
Act because of its tactile features, is designed to go on walls
at waist height so that children, wheel-chair users and adults can
reach it - a must for escape route marking. |
|
The tactile
indicators are extremely easy to understand and use
and have been hailed as an innovation by the visually impaired. Under
the Disability Discrimination Act, which takes effect in 2004, there is
a requirement to adjust policies, practices and procedures so as not to
discriminate against disabled people. It further reinforces the responsibility
of Building Managers to ensure that their evacuation procedure take account
of the needs of disabled people. Use of a Waypoint wall system may help
to address this important issue.
Floor
systems incorporate sequenced lighting to give directional
information – ideal for transport vehicles and corridors. Systems
include smoke detection and/or opto detection to trigger the system.
All systems have a source of illumination:
electroluminescent, photoluminescent, tritium gas or light emitting diodes.
The AdRail
allows you to provide a safety feature whilst at the same time generating
a revenue stream.
The
tactile
door plate enables visually
impaired people to identify fire exit doors in addition to communicating
the direction of the escape route before passing through the door.
